It had been a long time since Cross had left the safe zones. His reason? The majority of players where still too unnerved to attempt to level and challenge floor bosses. That meant there was suddenly a massive number of people needing lodgings, food and safe jobs to keep them occupied and happy in the virtual lives they suddenly found themselves in.
As such a considerable amount of time was needed to organise all of that between the towns of the two presently unlocked floors, along with the skills and patients to pull it off. Luckily one of the people trapped in the game was precisely the kind of person with those skills. As such Cross had been a very busy man setting up the infrastructure and negotiating with NPCs to accommodate the ‘civilian’ playerbase.
However that was all set up well enough that he wouldn’t need to check in until they cleared the second floor boss at least. Until then he could finally get back into the game and improve his own strength.
Which was why he was in the field once again
Moving cautiously he kept his detection skill active while scanning everything in his vision range carefully. He didn’t want to stumble blindly into any traps along the way, or be jumped by a hiding enemy.
He was an Australian after all. He had spent his entire life with countless very tiny things wanting to kill him simple for existing. At least he could see a boar coming.
Which is why he suddenly spun on his heel, drew his sword and swung it down all in a single motion, the long bladed weapon catching a boar across the side of the head and diverting it’s momentum away from the giant politician.
He noticed two other boars begin to charge him and dodged to the right, planting his right foot in the ground in time to divert his momentum in time to thrust his blade into the side of the second boar. Rushing forward he pulled his weapon free and used the second boar as a spring board to jump into the air and bring his weapon down on the third boar as it skidded to a halt in a vertical slash.
With a smirk he realised he had set up the boars perfectly and spun his blade on the left side of his body while adjusting his positioning and aim before performing the second spin the build up momentum before unleashing his sword art. With their armour ignored the three boars bore the brunt of the giants full attack strength.
As the boars burst into motes of light the giant considered what to do next. The fields where huge, there was bound to still be hidden treasure chests left. Maybe he could find one of those while his Sword Art timer cooled down? Or maybe he could try his luck fighting a boar without a sword art…
Decisions, decisions...
