Setting: Tolbana town-square in the early evening. It’s a gorgeous clear night, with numerous stars visible already in the dark sky. A crescent moon hangs low in the horizon, with the soft yellow light it emits blanketing everything in its mystical glow.

The night was very kind to the city of Tolbana that evening, the moon giving a soft glow to the entirety of the white-stone square, brightening up the scattered gardens and café patios that burst with revelers and adventuring-parties just returning from collecting the bounty of the dungeon…both good and bad. The street lamps did well to outshine their comrade in the sky but ultimately they would only pale in comparison. The occasional NPC walked past, dressed in fine cotton clothing, some pacing quickly with business on their minds, but others ambled along slowly to gaze at the sights or simply take in the beauty of the sky above them.
The dust of the square seemed absent this evening, the rains from the days before washing away the dirt of city living, the smells that once haunted the highly populated city giving way to a fresh and clean scent of the whole world being bathed anew. Spirits were high as groups of tipsy players bellowed rock-tunes from the real-world, the music seeming out of place in the setting of the game, but none-the-less things that were ultimately welcome, the song becoming a means of de-stressing while trapped in a world where the only escape was to win or face down a very real death.
A food cart was placed in the middle of it all, the scent of spit roasted meats coming off of it to tempt any of the passerbys…the proprietor serving up thick slices of charred beef on toasted country bread, pouring the occasional wooden mug of dark beer to accompany it. The cart was small to say the least, but solidly built, a wide wooden bar placed across it to serve patrons, smooth from the decades of use and wear. It was made solidly, owned no doubt by the cook behind the counter, two leather lashes draped on the ground for it to be hauled off in the morning by a draft horse…stationed nearby and awaiting its master.
On the other side of the square, there was a bit more action to be had as a small band began turning up their various instruments, stringed fiddles sounded off before accompanied by a small drum placed in the back…their bows moving slowly to announce their presence to the array of characters in the square, in a way adding to the life of the town itself by their small presence and ambiance. They were set on a small make-shift stage, a newer-built amalgamation of metal and wood meant to be folded and unfolded quickly as the troupe of musicians traveled from city to city, one can only guess that they moved in intervals…the cardinal system placing them at random wherever players were to be found and needed to be entertained.
