Player's Name: William Walther
Player's Age: 34
Relationship Status: Widowed (Within SAO)
Nationality: English
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Character Name: Wallace
Face Claim: Zeras Hyperion - Ragnarok Online
Appearance (You may use method 1 or 2, or use them both - this is the in-game character)
Method 1:
Appearance: While many of the gamers that played Sword Art Online were of the younger variety who might have gone for dashing rogues or something a little more entertaining, William's creation of Wallace was a fairly straight-forward endeavor. He looked largely as William himself did, only a bit more idealized, or he had been before the announcement that had reverted him back to William's appearance. A wild shock of pale brown hair sits atop his head, the hair leading down into sideburns and to a full beard as well. Wallace is built solidly, due to the fact that William himself has had a long hard life of manual labor.
Method 2:
Eye Color: Grey
Hair Color: Pale Brown
Skin Tone: Tanned
Physique: Muscled
Height: 6'2"
Dominant Features: N/A
Scars/Markings: A cross-scar on his face, and another on his forehead to his nose
[Personality]
William is a rather gruff individual. As the shift supervisor at a manufacturing plant, he tends to have a very no-nonsense approach to just about everything that he does. He's used to being the one in charge and leading and in games prior to Sword Art Online, he was very often the Guild or at least the Raid Leader for different situations. With those that he's come to trust, however, William is a far more boisterous sort, often quick to make a joke (of an often lewd or inappropriate) nature in order to get a rise, or a laugh, out of someone. He works solely to form that strong cohesive structure within his friends and teammates.
Despite being kind of a "man's man," William enjoys gaming and has for many years, even before all of this virtual reality stuff becoming a thing. He will frequently reference the 'good old days' when talking with the younger players which is most often what he sees while playing. He understands that he's sort of a dinosaur in regards to the others but he still can keep up just fine with all these youngsters.
The one thing he cherished more than anything is now lost to him (see below) and while he entered into a short depression for a time following, the man quickly put those feelings aside in order to focus on what was the best and most important thing to do right now: to brave all one hundred floors and make their escape. His determination in that route alone has begun to spur a bit of conversation and, while he's still just coming out of his depression and at a low level, he's making his way to being a higher level to be part of the primary raid team in order to bring himself to assist as much as possible.
Likes: Old-school games, drinking, raiding, being in charge, other like-minded people
Dislikes: Cowardice, fear, anything spicy, doctors, player-killers, being trapped in this game
Attribute Points
Strength: 2
Agility: 2
Dexterity: 1
Endurance: 5
Talents
Shield Mastery
Preserverence Mastery
Polearm Mastery
Sword Art
Reflective Shield
Effect: Take full damage from the attack, but also reflect that same amount back at his attacker. If too powerful, then it could either be whittled down or I can modify it to something else.
Trigger: William widens his stance keeping his feet just slightly further than shoulder width apart. He turns the right side of his body toward the incoming blow, and uses his left hand to brace his right arm, where the shield sits, in order to fully prepare himself for the strike. The move is largely utilital and while helpful, it does not require a great deal of setup, something that William is thankful for.
Description: When it activates, a golden rush of energy moves over the shield and seems to hold there, giving the armor a resonant glow. While it is rare for it to last for more than a few seconds (as its often used against an incoming strike), the glow itself sheds a small bit of light outward as well, like a torch. The field acts as a secondary armor on the shield, like a dampener over the shield itself. Attacks that strike the shield emanate a dull, bell-like gong, which can signal to other players that the effect has expired.
[Biography]
William is a man who had grown up around other blue-collar workers all his life. His father was a mechanic out in the outskirts, far away from London and the other big cities. As he grew, he had an appreciation for hard work and dedication to something as his father did every day, never shirking away from his duty. He was only nine when his father passed suddenly from a heart attack that the doctors hadn't quite caught in time, leaving him to be raised by his mother. He started working early at twelve on a few farms in the area for some money, anything that he could do to assist his mother in getting the money they needed for food and rent.
About this time, at one of the farms he was working on, he met a boy about his age who was rather sickly, and had several video games that he played in order to take him out of his body. At first William didn't much care for them, but as he returned to work often he found himself going to the boy's room and playing these games with him, and he began to foster a growing appreciation for them, and even get to be quite skilled.
At sixteen, he started work in the manufacturing plant that he is now the supervisor of, running tools and doing other gopher tasks, and he'd met Mary, who was the daughter of the shift supervisor at the time. The two hit it off and within a few years, with permission from her father, the two were wed. He had switched to full time at the plant by then, and was earning enough to help out his mother, pay for their own bills as well as get a few games on the side, a hobby he never quite lost.
When he reached twenty-five, his father-in-law was promoted and he was brought up the chain to be the shift supervisor as well. The small boy had grown into a well-built man who had forged his own destiny through hard work and dedication. His mother had provided his education and while he wasn't the smartest, he had a keen insight into a lot of situations and often could provide those surprising revelations when they were least expected, or come up with a rather ingenious solution to something that they'd been puzzling over for hours.
He'd started to hear about this new game coming out and like any self-respecting gamer, he signed up for the beta, though he didn't get in. Still, Mary was supportive throughout and he'd even gotten her addicted to a few of the games as well, the two often playing together when neither of them had to work any longer as a way to bond in a more fantastical world.
When the official release of SAO came to pass, they'd gotten their copies and logged in immediately with the new input, struggling to get accustomed to it at the moment, given the fact that they were a little rustic in their approach. Shortly following the announcement that they couldn't log out, and in the ensuing panic, William and Mary managed to get away from the crowds, and he began to do some research on the areas in order to find a good way to increase their level, the two of them driven to get out of here in one piece.
It was not to be, however, as a young man attacked Mary, killing her and marking himself as wanted as he could now do whatever wanted in this new world. Driven by shock, loss, and anger, William was unable to stop the fellow from leaving as he grieved over the fact that his wife was now dead. He wasn't certain how much time had passed but eventually he came to his senses, and in her memory, he is ready to help lead the charge to the hundredth floor and bring all of them out of here alive.
