Date 1, weather...it was ok, I can handle a little bit of cloud, but as long as is not downright pouring rain I will be fine.
Since stepping on the second floor two days ago, things have been...well, kind of uneventful to be honest, but yesterday I was able to make a deal with a shop owner in the Port, but it looks like it's going to be some hard work now.
QUEST: gathering spider webs, wolves fur along with other items as requested, request change from on daily basis, from the timber forest, time limit: one month, requirements: none apply.
That seems to be my daily quest right now...but, as long as I get the stuff, even if I did other things in between it would still be ok?
Stella pull up a piece of paper and bring it up to her eye level, this was the list of items that the owner wanted for today, best check it up....aside from the default items, she also noticed bird eggs and fish? Now that's...how am I going to get that? Bird egg I may have to climb tree, and the fish...fishing? What...I thought I was just out gathering materials that the needed for the shop, but it looks like I was also getting them dinner as well? I hope I get a bite of that, whatever they plan on cooking.
Stella rub of shoulder and head out into the timber forest.
At the very moment that she stepped into the forest, the atmosphere changed, the sky seems to be a little bit darker and there was an eerie silence, (I'm supposed to find bird here?!) thought Stella quietly to herself, suddenly unable and unwilling to take breath loudly.
Remember that this is your first time entering into the forest, and the forest is DANGEROUS, so be very careful, but also on the look out on the top of the tree for nest, and listen for river or other water sounds for the fish, she thought really quietly to herself (why, they can't hear you). Also watch out for the trees, there may be spiders hiding in there, they can climb right...?
Suddenly, she heard someone, in alert she quickly moved away from the source of the sound, hiding behind a bush and peering at whatever was making the noise from behind the bushes. She secretly pud herself on the shoulder for remembering to get the scent sprinkler from the shop owner, left behind by the husband who did this before her, it was supposed to remove her human scent and replace it with vegetation scent, otherwise whatever was moving on the other side will probably have find her already. She narrowed her eyes trying to get a better look, but she couldn't, the bushes limited her view, all she can tell is that it was big...but not a giant, before she could figure out what it was, it was gone.
.....
Waiting in the bush for a bit she decided to re think her strategy, this forest...if she wandered about aimlessly, she might run into something dangerous, especially consider her level, if she were to run into a group and couldn't get away, it might be game over. It might be perhaps, safer, to find a safe spot and set up trap, that way she could get what she was looking for quickly and get out of here. The bird egg and fish, there was no specific requirement, she can get in from the first floor, I just need a kind of trap for wolf and the other kind for spider....
Thinking back on the real world, animal traps and insect traps....Wolf trap and bear traps are basically the same, I need to find a lone wolf and lure it into the trap, I need to hide it behind leaves, but it will scream and try to call out for help, so I need to do it quickly and run. Spider trap is more difficult since in the real world they are smaller, the one I was think about is putting on super glue on cardboard, but I would need a substitute much bigger and much stronger, I will need to do some research in the port to see if they have anything. There is no denying that I don't have what I need with me right now, I need to double back to the port to get something from the owner before I can continue.
Having made up her mind, Stella begin making her way back to port when she heard something up ahead, she dodged and hide behind a big tree, peering out she can see what is making the noise, it was spider just leaving its web, that's right....she went to the general direction of where she was coming from, but going this way she actually saw a big spider web, it was huge and lounged between a few trees, she can see the spider already caught some prey, as the web was acting as host for a cocoon, and it was still moving at that point. Underneath the web, she could she some old webs, some various other items, a lot of leaves. The spider has already left but surely it will return, she need to act now but it return, that's some free web so why not.
Quickly, she went in and started to gather from the floor, she does not dare to come close to the actual web, less she gets stuck in there, but as she was finishing up, she can't help but wondering...what kind of creature is in the cocoon, it is STILL moving, but no means was she slow, but she would have thought it would be died by now, how long can a creature live without air? And besides, surely the spider would have injured it gravely?
Observing it for a bit, but unable to resist temptation, she finished gathering what she need into her inventory. Blade out of its sheath as she quickly jump upward to about the same height as the cocoon, she brought her long sword up in an upward cut, striking against the cocoon, cutting away a large vertical cut into the web, she landed on the group on her feet. After a brief moment, the cocoon let out. A large timber wolf fall off from the web landing hand onto the ground, for a brief moment she thought it to be already dead. But that stopped once the timber wolf put its front leg to the ground as it shakily, slowly but surely, standing up, its eyes when it raise its head to look at Stella, took Stella back a step, the gaze of this thing, full of hatred and hunger as if it could convey all the thing it wanted to say had it known speech. It rumbles deep within its throat, snarling, she could see that it is getting its energy back and she cannot wait any longer, charging in she strike in a horizontal swipe from left to right, low and in the center. The wolf dodged backward before it realize that it could dodge right back into the web, in the brief moment when it look back at the web, Stella quickly flip her hand, sword moving right to left across the wolf's neck, letting out splashes of blood, momentarily stun the wolf as she brought her sword right back again cutting into the same spot. At this point, she thought she had already won, because she could basically run away and wait for it to bleed to death.
But just when, the bushes behind her rustles, in her front the wolf glare at her with all of its hatred, it was shaken with rage, Stella back up, and it lung forward at her with what appears to be its full strength. Stella dodged to her left just as the spider, owner of this web returning from her back, the wolf charged right into the spider, biting hard onto its head, the spider caught in surprise shot out web from its mouth while moving backward in the same time, trying to shake off the wolf, trying to strangle the wolf with its web. But the wolf just would not let go, sensing its time is near, it was determined to bring down one of its enemy that cause him this pathetic ending, it bite down hard and keep wriggling in its bite. Stella knows that the wolf simply cannot win this fight, not when it has one leg in the death's front door already, but having the wolf distracting the spider of all of its attention,
Left hand on her sword guard, swipe with a flash of light as dark red as the blood itself, Stella stood behind the wolf in front of the spider, she strikes upward as air strike and steel went through the wolf's neck as the last hit that kills it, the strikes unstopping, through the wolf, went into the spider's open mouth, and steel went right thought the spider's skull as air let out from the other side of the spider's skull. Stella pull her sword out of the spider in a quick motion just as the wolf disappeared in colorful animation, without stopping she flip her hand, readjust her stands, bringing her sword upward, and in a single unstopping motion, cutting off the spider's head with the momentum. Even beheaded, the spider was still moving, but could no longer target her as effective as when it had a head and eyes, finishing it off was an easy task, a bit like hide and seek nightmare lunatic hard mode, for the spider.
Cleaning off the blood on her blade, she was sitting down on the forest floor trying to catch up her breath, it might have seen easy from on outside prescriptive, well it was not. She was struggling with a headless spider for sometime, but what ware her out even more, beside her intensive dislike for bugs, is the natural instinct of fearing for her life that came with fighting someone that could legitimately killed her if she was not careful. Even though it was no longer her first day in the game, the game was made so realistically it was as if she was fighting a real opponent, and no matter how many boar she sees in the distant, coming face to face with something like what she face today was still emotionally draining. It was a fight to the death for all party involved after all. And, there is a lot more of that later on in the game, this is still beginning level, it looked like, her heart and her will needs to become stronger too and fast, if she wants to survive in this game.
Sighing, that was probably that today, she stand up once again on her feet, she need to get back to familiar road before it gets dark, before more monsters come running out, she had a lucky kill today, but she cannot afford to be surrounded and cornered by a group of anything. Turning back, her long black her follows blowing in the wind, she made her way back, the way she came. On her way back she encountered a few nests on the tree, carefully looking around for more monsters but was not seeing any, she made her way up to the tree and steal a few eggs. On her way down and on her way back to the port was largely uneventful, she had a few close call almost encounter with groups, but she was able to detect them before they realize that she was there, and avoid the confrontation. Near the end of the forest, there was lake, but it was already almost dark by then, she wasted some times by avoiding monsters, getting lost in the forest and doubling.
Sighing, it was a long day, she was tired, but this was her last objective on the list, she almost had everything and completed everything. Stella stood before the water with her long sword in hand, yes, she is trying to spear(long sword) the fish. She tried and tried, but the fishes are too fast for her, and day light was losing out fast too, soon she won't be able to see anything, and once it gets hard, the creatures will come out, it will be easier to get lost, she needs to go back to town soon. But just then, on her last try, her sword strike true, it nailed a small fish, quickly she gets into the water without bring her sword up, she grab the fish and quickly retract back to the safety of land. It was dark now, and the forest become increasingly creepy, up ahead she can she the town lighting out by lights. Behind her, she is sure that it was merely her imagination, but she could feel eyes looking at her, tracing her movement, she was not sure what it was, but she bet it was not friendly. Stella pick up her paste as she run, just then, she heard something behind her, seemingly charging at her from a distant. Without looking back, and dare not look back, Stella run even faster, on her way past the gate to the port, safe behind the walls and the NPC guards, only then did she dare to look back on what was chasing her, there was nothing there....it might have been her imagination after all, fear the dark, she thought to herself.
Once back to the safety, she report the results of her quest to the shop owner, on her way she sold some of the other small items she gathered from forest floor to the medicine shop NPC, her inventory consisted mostly of herbs that she does not recognize (some of them turns out to be just pretty grass), some old and rusty weapon from some unfortunate explorer who died from the spider, she couldn't sell those so she throw them away. There are monster bones that she could keep and have the shop owner make soup, she have some furs from unknown animals that she could sell to the cloth shop, there are some rusty coins that probably no one will take, she throw them into a wishing well. Lastly, she got some pretty stones and sea shells from the river/creek, although not sure how they ends up there and them having no actual value, Stella decided to keep them because they are so pretty, perhaps she could find use for them some day who knows. The clothing shop owner Annie was kind enough to let her use the attic to sleep and rest and provides bread for breakfast within this month, she has to find her own lunch and dinner, but as long as she was working for the shop at least she had a place to stay, otherwise she would have been sleeping on the bench of the garden, and probably be chased away by guards. Sighing and rubbing on her tensed muscles, she clean and reorganize her inventory, looking at the futon that she had for bed, it was a far stretch from the comfortable bed she had in real life, but it beat the bench. She briefly wonders what her future will be, and suddenly she misses the real life that she had. She wonders how her families are doing right now and if they misses her, with those thoughts she closed her eyes laying beneath her blanket and dream of boar and boar meats.
