"The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are either constantly being proven right or being pleasantly surprised."
Relistri Lv1 | Across the vast green landscape, a figure could be seen sitting on a hill observing a cluster of boars below her. She had been here for a while now, watching their movements, actions, and reactions. They seemed to act like real-life animals. They'd graze for a bit, lift their head up every now and then and then move a few feet and repeat the process. She had long been prepared to fight one, though she kept convincing herself that she should stay and watch them a bit longer. She knew exactly what she was doing. She was stalling, because she was scared. Riley Woods did not get scared, she said 'screw it' and got things done. She why was she so bloody hesitant now? Was she finally beginning to fear this death game? Pfft. It was nothing more than a game, another test. She would beat this game, no matter what. With a deep sigh, Relistri stood and cast her eyes down on the beasts below her. There were six in total, though one unlucky soul had wandered away from the group. Perfect. Still, even on its own, it looked quite intimidating. It looked quite capable of killing her. Oh well, kill or be killed. She mused to herself as she crept down the hill. Once she was within ten feet of the beast, she paused and considered her options. If she continued to sneak up on it, she'd have the element of surprise and be able to land a better hit on it. Though she also might slip up and have it charge at her. If she rushed towards it, she would reach it faster, but her hit might not be as good. Oh since when have you put so much thought into plans, lets just wing this. The annoying little voice in her head hissed at her. With a growl, she leapt up from her hiding spot and rushed towards the boar. Almost immediately, two fierce red eyes clashed with her own cherry red ones. The boar stomped one of its hooves on the ground and lowered its head. Oh jeez... With speed faster than it should have had, the boar came rushing at her. Relistri just barely managed to doge the creature and swipe her rapier along its side as it went rushing past her. The numbers in its health back went down just barely. Two? Two damage? Really? She knew rapiers were meant for more precise and accurate strikes rather than giving damage, but this was pathetic! Before she had time to regain her ground, the boar had turned towards her with a look in its eyes that could only be described as rage. I've royally screwed myself over haven't I? She grumbled in her thoughts. The boar came rushing towards her with its head lowered. Once again, she jumped to the side but her swing missed this time. One of the boar's horns caught her leg and left a red slash on it. She looked at her HP and hissed, five damage to her. "Alright, enough of this." She growled and spun around, holding her sword in her right hand. With little thought, she leapt towards the beast and raised the rapier in a slanted position in front of her, the blade pointing towards the left. Right as the boar turned to her, she swung the rapier right, making a slice across the beast's head. She landed a couple feet to the left of the boar. This time the bar went down for a bit more, six damage. Only twenty-two more HP to go.. It would certainly be tough with the small amount of damage she was doing. She could use her sword skill, but she had issues with it. She had practiced using it but she always seemed to mess up with the footing. Well.. she could try. She quickly turned to face the boar and jumped backwards, her right foot fell in place in front of her second and her left behind her. She leaned over slightly and held the sword to her right side. The sword immediately glowed blue and a soft powering up sound could be heard. With she hiss, she used her right foot to push off and leapt forward. She drew the sword up in the same position she had recently used. The boar squealed and stamped its foot as it looked at her with hatred gleaming in its ugly eyes. A smirk formed on her lips and she quickly slashed at the boar and hit it on its back. Blue steaks of light danced around her sword and a shrill slicing sound was heard. Her feet found the ground a little ways behind the boar and she skidded to a stop. She spun around again to see the boards HP drop, much more this time. Eighteen damage. Only four more to go. The board turned quickly and dashed towards her catching her off guard. Before she had time to react, its head was crashing into her stomach. Damnit! She was through back a couple feet and landed on her back. Her eyes darkened in hate as she watched her HP drop again. Fifteen damage. This thing wasn't willing to die easily at all. I'll be damned if I die due to a boar! She hissed in her mind. Quickly, she rolled to the side to doge another attack form the boar. Relistri narrowed her eyes and leapt up, dashing towards the boar. Said beast was already running back at her. She pushed out her sword in-front of her and closed her eyes, bracing for contact. Only it never came, instead a shattering sound was heard. Relistri opened her eyes to see boar was no longer there, instead many blue shards filled the air. She had won. A sigh of relief left the girl's lips and she fell back into the grass, laying flat on her back with her arms above her head and her sword loosely clutched in her hand. "This is going to take some serious grinding." |
