Location: The misty forests known as the Black Forest. Secret rewards were known to be here. The forest was think and hard to navigate. The trees of a dark ashen color riggle out of the ground in contorted and twisted shape, paths are made through the wood but sometimes its not entirely clear where the path is.  Availability: Open to anyone, though I think I want to leave this one a 1 on 1 so i'm going to lock this to private once someone jumps in! Try to respect that and not have two people jump in same time! haha. Notes: Kyo is here on a quest he had received from an NPC in the town of beginnings. The quest was to locate a rare herb that had only grew here to cure an illness that the NPC's son had contracted. A way other players could wind up here is possibly taking the same quest, or perhaps grinding, or being generally lost. "Welp... now i've gone and done it..." Kyo muttered to himself, looking around in all directions to see nothing but the thick mist. Its been over an hour since he has seen another player. He quickly looked in all directions before giving off a shrug and drawing his blade. He had picked a nearby tree to become a landmark to keep him from wandering in circles. He quickly struck a nice large and apparent X in the tree before sheathing his blade and moving on. He had walked again for a minute or so before leaving another mark on a tree.  While here a snarl was heard from the thick of the misted. A wolf had charged through the misty air headed straight for Kyo. Not much time was available, nor much room due to the wood. He quickly lashed his sword to the side before it began to hold a dark glow about it. The wolf drew nearer as Kyo's blade ignite in a deep violet, "Violet Gale!" he announced, quickly two swipes rendered the wolf incapacitated, splitting into a plethora of particles and again leaving Kyo utterly alone. Or not perhaps?

Having taken the same quest, Lucia was also walking through the forest. She needed that EXP badly, especially since there isn't any way to raise agility otherwise. Now, since the quest description never gave much of a hint to where the herb was other than "the deepest reaches", Lucia only assumed that one needed to just keep walking. Unlike Kyo, Lucia started by drawing arrows on the trees in whatever direction she went. It wouldn't be long before she saw cross-marks on trees she wanted to mark. Sign of another person, perhaps? Lucia shrugged and made an arrow beneath it when she heard the snarl of a beast from ahead. Moving towards the source, she kept her Iron Scimitar in ready position. Although, by the time it got there, it was already gone. Thankfully, the player who killed it hadn't. "Excuse me, were you the one making X-marks on the trees?" She wasn't sure how to approach him, so she began with asking for confirmation. If he wasn't, then there might be someone else around, which would also be worth looking for.

Availability: PRIVATE, ONLY OPEN TO LUCIA Kyo's eye had widened as the person approached. It was kind of eerie and strange for someone to be this thick into the fog. He had remembered hearing a story of PK'ers already taking down other players as a means to gather items themselves. "Suppose I did?" Kyo asked in response back towards the female voice in the fog. "What's it to'ya?"

"Well..." She started. "I thought I was alone in this forest. Turns out I wasn't, so I was wondering if there were more than just us two." Continuing her approach, she got close enough that the fog no longer hid her appearance, revealing that he might have probably been expecting someone taller. This time, she lowered her sword to her side and switched to a backhand grip to prove she wasn't in here for some player versus player. "I'm just on a quest for Sageroot." She got straight to the point as she finally saw his appearance for the first time. Black hair, tall man... A typical adult. "You?"

Availability: PRIVATE, ONLY OPEN TO LUCIA Kyo had lowered his weapon and exhaled. "Well, I guess thats reassuring. I am the one who made those marks on the tree. I also was in search of Sageroot." Kyo had smiled, a bit of hope for the discovery of the plant had increased with aid. "So... any clues on where were going for this? I think I've continued straight but I wasn't too sure... thats why I deicded to start marking trees recently. That wolf is actually the first sign of life I've seen in like an hour..."

So she wasn't the only one on that quest. "The quest description said 'the furthest reaches of the forest' Walking up to a tree, she marked an arrow pointing the way forward. since we haven't found it, I think we just need to go deeper. I think not going straight would be too dangerous an idea. If we end up reaching the other end of the forest or something, then we can just turn around." No, it wasn't the best idea, but Lucia wasn't some super pathfinding genius or an overly intelligent child. Sticking to one method was more or less all she could do unless the man could think of a better idea.

Availability: PRIVATE, ONLY OPEN TO LUCIA Kyo looked around in thought for a moment. "Hold that thought-" he said before putting down his sword and taking off the chest piece of leather on his armor. Both of them appeared to apply to overall weight and mobility. He took in a deep breath and let it out before sprinting forward into a tree, utilizing his «Acrobatics» skill to go up it. He got a few feet up it before stumbling back down a landing with a THUD. 1 damage had appeared above his head for the fall. "hmm..." he got back up and grabbed his sword. He immediately began running up the same tree, but as he felt his run ending and his inevitable fall, he stabbed his sword into the tree. Quickly he began swinging from his sword in effort to gain momentum before throwing himself forward to a branch on another tree. This one had been taller but had many branches this high to climb up. "Hang on one second!" he yelled down as he began climbing up into the top reaches of the trees to look around.

With an idea, the man just started some new plan to run up the trees. She could probably follow him upwards with her own Acrobatics skill, but she didn't. On his first failure, Lucia felt lucky that she didn't try along with him, or it may have gotten more disastrous. His second attempt worked a lot better, so she left him to it, looking up. Perhaps she should mark an upwards arrow on the tree? As she thought of other inconsequential things, she heard a shout from above. Hang on one second, he said. "Can you even see anything through the fog?" She yelled back. Maybe if they both just used Acrobatics to replace movement altogether, they could just move along the trees to the destination? It would be similar to Lucia's idea to replace her movement with the Two-handed sword entirely with Acrobatics.

Availability: PRIVATE, ONLY OPEN TO LUCIA Kyo's head had peaked through the trees as he finished his ascension. Unfortunately to his dismay not much could be seen from his position. The fog was too think, even above the treeline, and the trees were so thick not much could be seen through them anyway. He began climbing back down. Dropping from a decent high to grab his sword from the previous tree he had embedded it in for his climbing use. He hit the ground, on his feet this time, but still suffered a slight damage penalty for the fall. "Couldn't see anything through the fog..." he said with a sigh. It was clearly looking to be the straight walking plan Lucia had previously offered. "Oh, sorry!" he said as he grabbed his armor piece and sheathed his sword. He extended out his hand toward the girl. "My name is Kyo, nice to meet you." he said politely with his hand extended out to shake.

As she thought, it wasn't possible to see through the fog. Watching as he made his descent, Lucia quickly moved out of the way to give him space to land. Meeting his offered hand with hers, she introduced herself. "And I'm Lucia!" It was a handshake, but her hand was smaller than his, so it kind of looked like his hand was eating her's up. "So she said as she retracted her hand. did you at least get an idea of how big this forest is?" Since there's obviously a 'deepest reaches of the forest', then if he could get a general idea of the area's size, they could probably assume it would be somewhere in the center. That was if he could, though. She wasn't betting on it with fog this thick.

Availability: PRIVATE, ONLY OPEN TO LUCIA Kyo smiled. "Nice to meet you Lucia, unfortunately I wasn't even able to see just a few trees ahead of me. I'm sure we'll find it though!" he said acting quite hopeful. He attempted to rally Lucia behind his blind efforts to finding this herb. "Shall we? " he asked.

Lucia was on the same quest, so she was after the herb as well. It was kind of obvious that she was going to follow along. How else would she expect to find the Sageroot? "Okay! I'll mark the trees, you keep a lookout!" And that was the way they would be advancing for a while. It was pretty easy to lose track of time in a forest like this.. At least for Lucia it was. "Has the scenery even changed a bit?" She could only ask. Who would seriously make an environment with such a thick fog and no way to lessen it's impact even by a little? Then again, it's not like Lucia knew anything about game design.

Availability: PRIVATE, ONLY OPEN TO LUCIA They trotted along for a while, a few times realizing they've crossed into circles. Then turning to avoid doing it again "This could drive a man mad... I'm glad I bumped into you. At least its a bit better knowing i'm not actually losing my mind the area was just designed to appear that way..."  He had appeared to lose some hope, and possible a shred of sanity. He had played games with similar areas but from a 3rd person point of view or a simple game where you could just hold W and run straight without question of direction it was different. This was real, never before has Kyo felt so lost, thne again, he was a suburbs boy and didn't know too much of the great outdoors depths in the real world either. "This is insane..." he said trekking on just the same.

Yeah, places designed to completely kill visibility is a horrible idea... Especially for a game that promised stunning visuals in virtual reality. There's absolutely nothing good looking about this forest... or fog. It didn't even look realistic. Lucia mostly let Kyo do the looking while she marked their direction as they went, but after a while she too got impatient and started looking around. Lucia wasn't a big outdoors person since she spent most of her time in the Dojo, making her situation more or less the same as Kyo's.. Chance seemed to favor her today, though. "Look! To the left! The mist is thinner!" She exclaimed in excitement. It was the first thing resembling a real scenery change they've had for a long time. Quickly marking a tree, they moved on to find a clearing, filled with a larger range of vegetation on the floor and guarded by... A wolf and two... plant like creatures. They sported a white body, an overly large mouth and a red flower on their heads. Oh, and two appendages resembling vines that whipped about randomly. Nepenthes, or Little Nepenthes if known information is correct but compared to Lucia they couldn't be considered so little anymore. "This looks like it." Lucia said without even checking for the Sageroot. She expected something like a quest item that required such long travel to be guarded, but she didn't know much about the relative strengths of the monsters. Drawing her Curved Sword, she turned to Kyo. "Now how will we be handling this?"

Availability: PRIVATE, ONLY OPEN TO LUCIA Kyo smiled, happy to have finally found the sageroot. Or at least he had hopped. He looked at the guardians of the forest, a wolf and a few flower creatures. "I've taken down wolves before alone, no problem. Im not quite sure what those plants are though. They look dangerous. I could probably tear down the wolf with a single use of my sword art though. Perhaps I just rush in and than we regroup to fight the two plants?." He really wasnt the couragous hero type, to so strongly say he would lead the charge. Though looking at Lucia he didn't really expect her to lead it. He didn't say this out loud at all, but he examined her small size as a handicap, though this was not the case. Either way, he wanted to finish this quest and be done with the dreaded forest. "Unless you have another idea?" he said drawing his blade from its sheath.
