Setting:
The Past. A Week After SAO's Official Release.
Outside The Town Of Beginnings, A Kilometer East-Northeast Of The Town's South Entrance.
9:20 P.M.
A small campfire lit up the starry night. White hair visible amidst the darkness, Angelo sat on the grass leaning against the wall of the Town of Beginnings. He watched absentmindedly as smoke billowed into the sky before dissipating into the air. The Cardinal system did a very good job with recreating as much of the real-life aspects into the game. Still, if only the thousands of people were not trapped here, Angelo would have probably enjoyed it a lot more. While being Kou, he would occasionally take camping trips with his family in winter and summer. During those times, his parents taught him how to make a fire, set up camp, cleaning water, and the other necessities with staying overnight in an unfamiliar area. Sadly, most of the things he learned could not transfer into Sword Art Online, but at least he had the knowledge of, and at times, be able to use them to efficiently speed up the time in which he could set up camp.
Angelo moved his hands closer to the fire, occasionally rubbing them together and blowing on them to make them warmer. He stared at his hit point bar on the upper left corner and recalled how it went down when he was damaged by boars and wolves alike. He gave himself a small reminder that he should always check it frequently during battle. Pain was something not able to be recreated in SAO, so one could easily forget just how much damage they received. It was these small mental notes that kept him from accidentally risking his life. His eyes trailed down to the clock.
9:28 already..
Sword Art Online uses its own time, called the 'Aincrad Local Time', based on Japan's own timezone. This proved to be helpful for him as he did not need to change his sleep schedule compared to others who lived in Europe or the Americas. It was strange for him to be thinking about other people in this way, but Angelo later realized that it was because he still had his humanity.
Angelo put his right thumb and index finger together, pulling down the menu. He accessed his inventory and took out the bread and cream. As they appeared in front of him, the lone teen tapped the jar of cream and then tapped the bread, automatically putting cream on. He took a big bite out of his dinner and proceeded to wolf it down in a matter of seconds. A song popped up in his mind, enticing Angelo to hum along before he finally sung out loud.
"And how can the world want me to change
They're the ones that stay the same
They can't see me
But I'm still here"
He hummed the rest of the song as he began making preparations to head out for a late night grind.
