Athena looked around the town, and took a deep breath. She had taken a long enough break from actually fighting any monsters. She needed to find someone to team up with. She needed to find someone that could help her fight. Athena knew that she wasn't the strongest or the most durable of characters. Well... In order to find someone to team up with, I need to find a quest to complete. Otherwise, I'd be killing monsters without an extra reward for the effort I put in. Athena walked around the streets of the town as she had this thought. As soon as she had finished that thought, a couple people walked next to her. They looked as if they were in a party, and they were talking about how the general store shopkeeper needed some help finding ingredients to make potions. How lucky! I guess I should start by heading over towards the general store and getting them to set me up with their quest!      Athena started making her way to the center of town, when she realized she had no idea where the general store was. She slightly laughed at herself because it was such a trivial thing that was keeping her from the quest she wanted to get. When Athena made it to the center of town, there was a small group gathered near where she had entered. She walked over to them and tapped a tiny girl with a slim build on the shoulder. She quickly spoke to the girl, "Hi. Could you point me in the direction of the general store?" The girl quickly turned around quickly, and Athena then noticed that the girl had jumped at her touch. The girl looked up towards her because she was so short. The girl gave her a short response about where she should go. After Athena got what she wanted from the girl, she gave a small wave as she walked away. Athena continued to the general store, not making any unnecessary stops.      Athena arrived at the general store with little trouble. I hadn't really noticed, but that girl gave oddly specific directions. Athena shook the thought out of her head as she looked at the medium-sized shop that stood in front of her. It was a good-sized building that had a ovular sign hanging from a small iron rod at the front edge of the roof. On the sign, it had a small potion bottle, a sword, what looked to be a ham, and delicate cursive writing. "General Store" is what the sign's delicate cursive read. As she read the sign, she gained a small amount of the respect for whomever had written it. It was very well-done, even by her standards. Athena looked around the building to take a look at the architecture of it. It wasn't, by any means, crafted in a very precise way, but there was a beauty in the wear in all of the wood. It gave the shop a feeling of ease, which resonated with Athena for some strange reason.      As Athena made her way inside the strangely beautiful building, she was greeted by 'Collin The Craftsmen'. "Hello. What can I do for you?" Athena walked over to the counter and plainly asked, "Collin, do you have a quest for me?" Collin quickly responded to her with a quaint 'Yes'. Immediately after Collin had answered, a window had popped up in front of her asking if she wanted to complete the quest, "Collecting for Collin". Athena quickly read over the synopsis of what she would be doing. It looked like all she would be doing (hopefully with the help of someone else), would be collecting a total of 5 red berries, 5 blue berries, 2 boar hides, and 1 level 1 soul gem. Athena pressed 'Yes' because she thought it would be easy enough to find each of those objects. Assuming that she could collect each object by defeating one enemy, that would mean she would have to beat a total of 13 enemies. She didn't have a problem with defeating 13 enemies, especially since it would probably end up getting her a level up, which she definitely needed. Being able to defeat the floor 1 boss was her goal right now. She didn't know what level she needed to get up to, or what enemies would be guarding the floor boss, but she knew that she needed to start making progress. Fast. Otherwise, she would get left behind by the front-runners of the game. Athena definitely couldn't have that.      Athena knew enough about each of the quest required items that she needed to at least travel to 'The Great Plains'. A good portion of the enemies she needed to defeat would probably be there. Especially since 'The Great Plains' was essentially the place where you needed to complete all low-level quests. Okay. So all I have to do is head to The Great Plains, and maybe try bumping into someone that could help me? No. I can't do that. That's too theoretical. Maybe I should try battling on my own at first and see how it goes. If I can handle myself without being hurt, then I'll just complete the quest myself. Okay. Now to execute that plan. After that small collection of thoughts, Athena walked to The Great Plains.      The Great Plains was an expanse place, with a number of enemies she could already see. Unfortunately, there weren't as many enemies as she thought there would be. Then the thought struck her. Why didn't I think about that before?! Since all low-level quests are completed by monsters in this region, then people must kill monsters here all the time! How could I be so stupid?! Well... It doesn't really matter now, since I have to defeat these monsters. Plentiful or not. Athena pulled up the menu and selected her 'Inventory' icon. From that, she pressed the 'Beginner's Rapier' and 'Beginner's Armor'. Each one phased onto her body and she closed the menu. She could see a 'LV 1 BOAR' in front of her. She crouched and stared at the boar and waited for its back to be turned before she struck. She ran at the boar with all of the strength she possibly had and cut down in a straight line. As she made the incision, she heard a small screech from the boar, and a red '4' above the boar. ONLY 4?! I ONLY DID 4 DAMAGE TO A LEVEL 1 BOAR?! Athena looked at the boar, who seemed to be raging mad now that she had made an incision into it. As the boar came towards her, she relied on her agility to dodge the boar. As the boar came close to her, she quickly side-stepped it and tried to create a deeper incision by using its own inertia to create an even more extensive blow. Athena did side-step the boar, though it clipped the edge of her leg, which made her grit her teeth together. Athena took a total of 3 damage from the boar. The health bar in the corner going down a small amount. But the fact that she had even taken damage made her angry. Maybe I can't do this myself. Should I run away? No. That seems foolish at this point. If I can figure out a pattern in the boar's movements, then I can certainly win.

Cross' day had been pretty good so far. Mostly he had just been goofing about playing hide and seek with some of the underage non-combat players in the Town of Beginnings. He had managed to surprise them a few time, first when seeking when he demonstrated why hiding in a tree wasn't too helpful when being sought by a man as tall as one. The second when hiding when he managed to be the last one found… by hopping the fence right next to the starting position.

Now he was out on the great plain looking to do some hunting. He had no specific goal in mind, just some simply monster killing to kill time and earn some coin.

He heard a noise not to far from where he was strolling and raised an eye brow.

It took him only a moment to crest a small hill to see a grey haired girl fighting a boar with a rapier… and barely scratching the creature. 'Must not have put much into strength.' He mused as he drew his weapon and casually walked over to where the girl was fighting.

He didn't bother saying anything as his swung his massive sword with only his right hand in an arc from his left to his right. The blade easily dug into the boar's side and immediately knocking the boar down to it's last hitpoint. If it had been a strict with both hands the boar would have been dead, but he wanted to help, not steal the kill.

Sora was casually out in the plains. Why you may ask? Well that's a very good question! Sora just finished a quest out here earlier, and... Wasn't very satisfied with the rewards. Oh no~ what do I do! Obviously, do another quest! So that was exactly why Sora was out here.

Sora had a lot of things on his mind as he walked throughout the plains, rather nonchalantly at at. His expression was rather blank even though he had a lot on his mind. He was wondering about where he should go to get new gear. Sure the starting stuff wasn't terrible, but it wasn't really good either. He needed to find better items. You can't rely on stats and level alone, weapons and armor give a lot of attack and defense boosts, as well as can look cool at that! But, just because you have good gear, it's always good to have good stats to boot. So, he figured first he'd work on getting a level or two before anything else.

Still deep in thought, he was interrupted by a girl screaming. Weird, there should only be boar here. And even if you are level one, they shouldn't be too difficult... Sora wasn't one to talk though, he had a tad bit more experience than others. Playing the beta and all. But that didn't really matter. If somebody was in trouble he may as well swoop in and save the day! Like, Davis hasselhoff or something. As Sora got closer though, he noticed another person had already helped her out. Though, he may as well show up and help around with other things. He may not be doing much, but he's still get XP and coin none the less. So there went Sora, nonchalantly striding up to the two, sword sheathed and hands down by his side. The most noticeable thing, would obviously be his a tad big, blue eyes that seemed to nearly glow.

"Do you have a problem for me to solve?" ☒ @cross @sora ✐ 004 ✉ Bless you Cross! You really saved Athena! (Though, she will probably get mad at you for jumping in still, and say that she could handle it all by herself.)

As Athena locked eyes with the boar, she could tell that it was just about ready to charge at her again. She readied herself to dodge out of the way and then do the attack she wanted to do earlier. Okay. Just get ready. It looks like it's about to start charging N- Right as she was about to finish her own thought, a man who seemed to be significantly stronger than she was, attacked the boar. A large red number appeared that she didn't catch, but she knew it was a strong blow. Before she started complaining, she noticed that the boar had just been put down to it's last legs of life. Is this a gesture of help? Athena was touched for a moment before she shook her head in disapproval of her own feelings. Even if it is a gesture of help, I have to learn what my strengths and weaknesses are in combat. If other people are there, I can't assess myself in the best way. Athena walked over to the boar and inflicted the remaining damage onto its body, having death greet the monster made out of data.      The body of the boar shattered into what seemed like pieces of glass. Athena went to touch one, but as soon as she touched it, the small shard dissipated into nothing. After Athena experienced that moment where she had killed her first monster, she sulked for a bit. Can I not do this on my own? I thought defeating 13 monsters would be a piece of cake, but it looks like it'll be a lot harder than I thought. My body isn't restricting me. Is it my own thoughts? Am I just under a lot of pressure? Am I too excited? Was I too cocky? That's probably what it was. I mean... 13 enemies?! How did I think I could do that?! And all of them... By myself? That's unthinkable. Athena looked towards the large man in a moment of desperation, and a question left her mouth that she never thought she would speak. "Will you please help me?" Athena was shocked by the words that had left her mouth. WAIT. DID. I... DID I JUST... Athena tried to keep the same smiling facial expression she usually put on, but it was definitely noticeable that she was disappointed in herself. Disappointed because she had asked for help, disappointed because she couldn't defeat one monster by herself, and disappointed because she even allowed someone to step in and 'save her'.      Out of the corner of Athena's eye, she noticed someone slightly younger than her. He had a bright glowing blue eye, which caught her attention. She put the thoughts of disappointment out of her head. Well... If people want to help me out, it's probably because they think I'm helpless because I'm a girl. There's no problem with that. If I can get more people to believe I'm a 'damsel in distress', then... No. I can't do that. That means I'll have to hold back my own effort. I can't do that. I have to level. I have to make sure I make it to the first level boss. I need to make a party with these two. Athena looked at the large man, and noticed that he had a two-handed sword. That made a lot of sense as to why he could cripple a monster in a single hit. The other boy, who was younger than her, carried a longsword and it looked like he was a pretty versatile fighter. Tank, DPS, Support, and Crowd Controller. The large man, if we were in a party would probably be a tank. The boy... I don't know exactly what he would be, but since he's versatile, his role in the party would change. I don't know what role I would be at. I'm quick, but I don't have any good way of inflicting damage or damage over time. I have 'Blinding Beam', but I really hate using that. I probably won't need to use it for a long while. Athena took a step back, so she could see the two that had approached her. She first made eye contact with the larger man. "Hold on. Before you answer my first question, I have a question for both of you." She took a small pause for dramatic effect. "Would you please join me in a party?"

Cross smiled a genuine smile at the younger girl even as he recalled the chaos of the early days of the game. So many had been lost, confused and scared, some had even considered suicide. He had even been one of the people to talk a few out of that course of action. It was during those first days, where he also helped organize the non-combat players, that he realized the message he would carry with him as a politician stuck in this death game, “We're all in this together.” He replied, “Of course we should all help those who need it. By working together we can over come any challenge this game throws at us.”

With a shrug he added, “So, yes. I will join your party.”

It really wasn't a hard choice. Not only did it mean both of them could work towards levelling but it made it safer for both of them. Add the fact she wasn't hard on the eyes and the arrangement certainly had it's perks. That, and it was more fun to hunt with other people.

It was another day in the Great Plains with another boar charging at him head on. He would raise his sword and hold the flat end of the blade and would block the boars attack then would push the boar back and swing down with his long sword in his right hand. The blade itself would connect dealing some damage knocking the HP of the boar to 20.

"Tch. Pathetic."

I would then swing the sword down again at the recovering boar dealing another 7 damage dropping the boar to 13 health. Finally with one more swing he would drop it on the now charging boar killing the boar with the boar nearly hitting me. Then, Kyotori had heard the women in trouble because of her little damage that she could do and simply smiled. He was practically in the same boat as her. He wasn't a DPS person but he was a tank so maybe he could help in some way. However he needed a shield. Getting a shield would be crucial to his class. He didn't realize how hard it truly was to acquire a shield. He would walk over to the two people who had gathered and would wave.

"Shoot I'll help you guys too."

Kyotori's physical build wasn't that of a tank, but of a fast swordsman. Looks can be deceiving however.

[Sora]

Sora was... rather surprised really. He hadn't even finished walking towards the two before she already popped the, " Join my party! " question. Was he really that much of a legend that everybody wanted him in his party already?! Funny. No. Sora had a goal, and that was to beat this game, though widely shared by many people, they all didn't have the tenacity that Sora had. By his looks, he didn't even seem that reliable though. But, that was actually true at the moment. He was level one, a greenie, newbie, fresh meat. He was merely a grain of sand on the beach. Sora didn't let that get to him though. Even Mike Tyson for example, used to get picked on as a kid, and ended up as one of the greats in boxing. Everybody starts somewhere, and this is where he did... in these.. kinda boring looking plains.

Sora then decided why not. This would only benefit him after all. He was half way to leveling up, this would act as fuel, boosting him up to getting closer to the next level, and getting stronger. Sora then gave the girl a warm smile before he gave his response. " My name is Sora, ya' know, like the one with all the clouds 'n' stuff? Thought you might need to know my name if I were to join your part- Ah! I forgot, when you join a party it'll display my name already.. " ( Sora means Sky ) As he said his answer, he offered out that of the right hand, palm out, digits extended. Motioning for that of a handshake. After her, he'd extend the same hand out towards the other male.

"Do you have a problem for me to solve?" ☒ @sora @southerncross kyotori ✐ 008 ✉ Thank all of you for being a part of this! Please excuse Athena's bossy attitude, she can't help it.

Athena waited for each of the coming responses. The large man replied happily to both of her questions, addressing each question with a positive attitude. It seemed that he was very upbeat and energetic from Athena's reading of him. He's definitely a tank. And he's a level 2, which makes me wonder why he's helping me out. He said, "We're all in this together," but did he really mean that? He did help me before from being killed, and it doesn't seem like he's a player killer, so I think I'll be okay by being in a party with him. If things go south with him though, I think my speed will definitely allow me to get away.      A new person came from on top of a hill, who told them that he'd help them out too. Athena thought it was odd that someone has suddenly appeared and had told them that he'd help. But he seemed adept enough, so Athena didn't really mind. Though, she did mind that two of the four members had longswords. A large variety of weaponry was usually better suited for a party. Different types of weaponry would sometimes be more effective against different types of enemies. Athena wanted to formulate strategies based on that advantage. She looked over the new person and then moved onto the next person who spoke.      The boy who spoke had not one, but two, glowing eyes. She only noticed one, but the other seemed to be glowing as well. Hmm... Glowing eyes? Athena looked closer at his eyes and noticed that the glow was in a circular shape, which probably meant that the glowing was a byproduct of the sun's light hitting his eyes. What an interesting pair of eyes. I've never seen any eyes like them before. Not that it matters anyway. Athena shook her head and looked at all of the people that responded to her question. All of them would definitely be adept enough to defeat 12 more enemies for her quest. Athena was so busy sizing up the other party members that she completely overlooked Sora's, the boy's, handshake. As she suddenly noticed it, she shook his hand. "Oh. Sorry. I didn't see that you were trying to shake my hand. It's nice to meet you. My name is Athena."      After she finished introducing herself to Sora, she went over to the large man. "As you probably heard, I'm Athena. I have a quest to collect a list of materials. And since I'm just a beginner... I'm not really strong enough to collect all of the items on my own." Though I really thought I would be. "I'm grateful that you came and helped me. I don't think I could've defeated that boar easily. But thanks to you, I've now got my first kill under my belt. Thank you." She extended her hand towards him and smiled widely, trying to look genuine. Athena didn't think he was smart enough to see beyond her ruse. Even if he was smart enough, she didn't really care. He had agreed to work with her, and she'd try to be nice to him since he did help her get her first bit of experience with combat.

Cross smiled at the girl as she thanked him. However he was smarter then she was giving him credit for. Years of dealing with professional liars had taught him how to see when anyone who spoke to him was lying prompting him to whisper just loud enough for her to hear, but no one else, “I look forward to seeing a genuine smile on that pretty face of yours.”

People often underestimate just how massive someone who is nearly nine feet tall actually is. That is, until that person is standing right in front of them. They also tend to forget just how huge muscular people are until they are, again, right in front of them.

Cross was both.

So when he accepted Sora's handshake his own hand engulfed the younger male's hand entirely.

But a handshake is nothing without a good grip, and a grip was something Cross wasn't lacking. If their avatars had bones the young man's would be creaking under the pressure.

Finally Cross turned his gaze to the fourth person in the growing entourage and commented, “Well this makes one more then the last Party I was in...”

He then thought on the quest Athena had said she was doing, “Well as long as this doesn't involve crazy old forest hermits and moon-chomping giant wolves then it should be a cake walk...”

(OOC: Yes. I think that'd be a good idea, but I'm going to talk to Ari and see what they say. If Ari suggests we skip over them, then I'll have Sora post. Otherwise, I'm going to make a decision to skip them after a week from Kyotori's post.)

Sora actually had a rather good build among him, even though his muscles weren't bulging out of his clothes and such, his build was just covered and hidden by his clothing. Even though he may look like some scrawny guy. He was considered short though, breing 5'7" tall. Though he was also taller than quite a large amount of people. Sora brushed some of his brown/black hair out of his face before turning his attention towards that of Athena.

Before speaking, he actually wondered what was the true reason for her needing their help. Was it truly for fighting boar? Or something bigger. Perhaps wolves, or even Kobold Patrol Men. Which, Sora wouldn't mind either of the two anyways. Well, what better way to ask than to ask her himself? Though one thing he didn't understand was why she with withholding part of the truth. She talked as if she was hiding something.. This could possibly be a trap, but no matter. " So uh, Athena, what exactly is it that we are going to do? "

"Do you have a problem for me to solve?" ☒ @southerncross @sora kyotori ✐ --- ✉ Please take good care of Athena~ Also, I'm going to pretend like Kyotori didn't post... It doesn't look like he's coming back...

Athena continued to stare and smile at the large man as she noticed that he was leaning in closer to her. He whispered something about getting a genuine smile on her face, which made Athena mentally smirk. Hmm... Maybe people in this game are a lot more observant than I give them credit for. Athena then noticed how immensely large the man was compared to her. The man almost had to bend all the way over just to whisper toward her. He could completely engulf her whole body with no problem at all. Athena then observed the two handed sword that the male carried. The two handed sword was so large, it made her rapier look like a toothpick. She looked at the sheer girth of the sword and imagined just what the sword could do to an enemy. How exhilarating... I never thought I would meet someone so strong in the game! That sword could do some serious damage to any of this man's enemies.      Athena watched as two of her party members interacted through a handshake. The large man she had just spoken to, and the boy, Sora. Athena watched as the gargantuan man's hand completely swallowed Sora's small appendage. Oh dear... I'm surprised Sora hasn't lost a few health points just by interacting with the new party member... Because of this small gesture though, she got even more excited about the man and his abilities as an ally.      When the two finished their interaction, Sora and the large man both made comments or posed questions about the quest. "Oh! Yes! The quest!" She pulled up a window on her menu, which gave the details of the quest and what they would need to do to complete it. "Well... From what it says here... We need to get 5 red berries, 5 blue berries, 2 boar hides, and 1 level 1 soul gem. So... Is that a task that all of you are up to? We need to kill at least 13 monsters." Athena looked where the boar would be lying if there was a body to be found. She quickly coughed. "Sorry... Make that at least 12 enemies. Do you think that should be easy enough?" Athena quickly sent each of them requests to join her party as she kept up her fake personality, smiling and being cheery.
