Non-Lethal Damage
Not as blood thirsty as you think you are, eh?
Given the amount of threads that we have had so far that have involved non-lethal damage both to players and NPCs, I felt it was a good idea to give everyone a quick run-down of how this form of combat works and how it is rewarded.
Non-Lethal damage occurs when you as a player attack a NPC/Player with no weapon equipped, and this results in a red mark (just like normal damage) only faded and lighter (pink). Everyone is assumed to have basic kick, punch, and stab…nothing fancy, but basic attacks that are already present on your character by default. Bear in mind rolling wise, your weapon is considered not equipped, however an attack roll is performed without said weapon. In this form any damage meted out will have the tag: “Non-lethal damage”, and is calculated just like normal damage and any HP deduction performed will be placed against their standard HP pool.
Example:
Relsialle kicked Corrupted NPC: Success – 10 Damage
Corrupted NPC 20HP – 10HP = 10HP (non-lethal)
Once your target goes below 10HP of their standard HP pool, they are considered to be “knocked out” and no longer have any action. If they still hit 0 hp beyond this, like if you kept hitting them after they were unconscious, they will still die.
Unconscious players can come to as well, and if a NPC/player is unconscious they have a +10% chance per round (cumulative) of returning to the attack with their former HP pool. SO it behooves you to finish any non-lethal combat with multiple NPCS quickly…
For martial artist characters (if that system is implemented) they will still have weapons they can unequip…Knuckles, Katars, etc., So non-lethal damage works the same way for them as it would for any other character.
Additionally, when it comes time to review your thread, any use of non-lethal damage to knock a NPC or player out will invoke a -10% XP gain from said NPC or player.
