Monster Taming and You
“How not to get eaten alive when you try to feed that giant Tiger…”
So you’ve spent that hard earned talent point on monster taming and want to give it a try? To be successful there is a pretty clear cut way to be on your way to putting that new boar to work.
First, you must start either a group thread or solo thread in which the level one monsters appear. As long as the level of monster matches or has a level less than the level of your taming skill and level it will eventually be a success. You can only tame the monster that is lesser or equal to the level of your taming skill…up to your character level. For example, if Relsialle wanted to tame a level 4 black wolf with her skill (rank 4 taming), she would need to be level 4 or higher for it to work.
Now let’s say you tamed a level 1 boar a long while ago and you have been using it for quite some time and have grown attached to it…It levels with you! So years from now when we finally reach level 100, your level 100 boar can come along for the ride…
For another hypothetical…let’s say you’re starting to get sick of that boar and come across a lovely level 70 ice dragon…if you are that level and your taming skill is of that level, you definitely can! However, you must make the sad choice to give up your boar and turn it loose in the wild if you do not have the familiar leadership talent. With the familiar leadership talent you can collect multiple familiars and pets without needing to give up the creatures to the wild. By taking the first rank in familiar leadership you gain the ability to have 2 pets (however you can only use and summon one pet at a time) with an additional pet storage slot for every 5 ranks you gain in that talent.
Be advised, no matter how high your skill is you cannot tame Bosses, Field Bosses, Players (unless they want to be tamed), and other humanoids.
Examples:
You see a Black Wolf Lvl 4
Results:
Relsialle Lvl 4, Taming Rank 4 = Success!
Relsialle Lvl 3, Taming Rank 5 = Failure!
Relsialle Lvl 5, Taming Rank 3 = Failure!
