Art is everything.
| Today, Date Unknown Writing again today because I don't really have much else to do currently. I still have no paint, although I did get some Col from killing Boars with the kind woman Takita. She was an experienced fighter, a level 3 in fact, and she wielded a rapier. She was eloquent in the way she brandished it, swinging precisely and with subtle grace. She reminded me of a sculptor I once saw working on a piece of artwork. As the chisel moved across the block of marble, the chips seemed randomly placed. However, as time passed, you could clearly see that a beautiful figure of a roman woman came into view. Takita's style may not have been the most effective at first glance, but the blows executed together brought down enemies quickly. I still have no drive to check the date. I do not wish to know how long I've been here. It frightens me to think of what little I may have accomplished in such a long time. At least, what feels like a long time. I miss my father and mother. I miss my tutors and the level of learning I was immersed in. It was an unfortunate accident that I was caught in here, but like I've written in previous entries, there is a lot for me to learn here. From what I've heard, the 2nd Floor Dungeon has already been found and it is about to be explored. I must catch up to these 'front-liners' as everyone is calling them and do my part to ensure my escape. I may want to leave before I learn everything I can, which saddens me. But I am afraid I might not be able to stand being alone much longer. Today, I venture into the Black Forest in search of Berries for paint. I sincerely hope I don't run into too many Little Nepenthes. I have heard that they're hard hitters and I can only take so much of a beating as such a weak character. --- Minerva closed her journal and stood up in the small room she had been staying in. She was able to afford something a little more luxurious because of the Col she had gathered from killing Boars. It was strange though. She hadn't given the innkeeper any Col, but they let her stay the night in the inn. Maybe she had been seen around the town? No... That certainly couldn't be it. Maybe the innkeeper owed her a favor for some reason? As these questions and thoughts flowed through her head, she exited her room and headed down onto the main floor of the inn/tavern. As she walked down the stairs, a familiar pop of color came into her vision. Ah! That's what it was! The innkeeper owed her for letting them display her artwork, free of charge. When she was about to exit, she decided to stop by to talk to the innkeeper a little bit. This player, Fiorana, was a tall woman with striking features. She wore somewhat revealing clothing, which seemed to entice a lot of male customers. As Minerva came up to the bar, Fiorana gave her a large smile. "Well, what can I do for you Honey?" Minerva returned her smile with an upturn of her lips and a nod. "Thank you for letting me stay the night here. If you ever want any more of my pieces, I'd be happy to make some for you. I just need to get some berries from the Black Forest to get some paint." Fiorana's eyebrows raised as she mentioned the Black Forest. "Mmm... Are you sure you want to do that alone? That place can get dangerous and it's easy to get lost in there, if you're not careful." Minerva nodded. "Despite the fact that I'm only a level 1, I finally figured out the best way for me to fight. If I don't challenge myself, then I won't grow. And even if I can't handle the pressure of the Black Forest, I'm quick on my feet, so I should be able to escape if I need to." Fiorana closed her eyes for a moment. "If you're sure. Just don't get beaten up too badly..." Fiorana opened her eyes back up and her enormous smile reemerged. Winking, she continued saying, "I still need some of your pieces for my inn." Minerva smiled at this kind woman. "I'll make sure I come back with as few scratches as I can." Minerva got up from the bar and began walking out. She gave Fiorana a small wave goodbye before she left. "Have a nice day Fiorana. I'll see you later." Fiorana gave her a large wave. "Stay safe!" What a nice woman. She reminds me of Karen. What a sweet lady, and very intelligent. As Minerva left the bar, the cheery air that she held inside the bar left her. Now wasn't the time for being optimistic. She needed to face her problems and evaluate herself as she ran toward the Black Forest. She wasn't strong, so she'd need to get quite a few attacks in before she could kill a Little Nepenthes, or god forbid, a Dire Wolf. She was also only level 1, so killing a Dire Wolf would be incredibly hard to manage. Even though she'd be quick, she was sure a Dire Wolf would have no problem picking her off. If she could sense that she was even remotely close to one, she'd take a run for it. Something else was that she wouldn't be able to venture very far into the Black Forest. She'd easily get lost and markers on trees wouldn't be a guaranteed way to get out. The monsters inside the Black Forest were probably much smarter than Boars. Boars were a very primitive monster, keeping to one kind of attack and not trying to formulate battle strategies against opponents. Dire Wolves, she knew, would be a huge threat. If they were anything like real wolves, they would unpredictable and wild. Well, maybe not as unpredictable considering they're only a level 2 monster, but Minerva wanted to be more careful than anything. The only thing she needed was berries, for now. That was all she needed. |
