"Friends are the family you choose"
Pureblade Lv 3 | Dan stretched his arms above his head, his fingers laced together causing them to crack. "Alright let's get this done." He mumbled to himself. He was in the forge in Port Noir having just come from the shop in the city, having just bought the necessary copper for crafting. He was eager to try out his new crafting skill he'd gotten with his most recent level up. He quickly stripped off his shirt, quickly feeling the heat of the multiple furnaces in the building, leaving him in a nearly sleeveless undershirt. The young man swiped his finger down and opened his inventory quickly pulling out his newly acquired metal. Glancing it over briefly he nodded in satisfaction. He set the mineral on a nearby work table and walked over to the furnace proper. Feeling the heat more intensely now, he quickly wiped his brow as sweat began to form and grabbed a nearby pair of bellows and stuck the tip into a little port on the side. Then he began pumping up and down, up and down, over and over again the fire growing hotter and hotter as he pumped. Then suddenly a little notification popped up in front of him letting know that the fire was heated to an appropriate temperature. Now that the fire was hot I threw the two copper ore into the furnace. Now I only had to wait. After a couples minutes a notification popped up in front of Dan again. It surprised him this time though. In the real world it would have taken much longer for the metal to heat sufficiently. The young blacksmith shrugged it off as it being part of the game and went back to the forge, grabbing a pair of tongs as he made his way there. He reached the long clamps into the fire, struggling a bit to face the heat. However he managed to grab the glowing copper, which had now fused into one piece, and set it back on the workbench. The brunette put the tongs back carefully so as not to burn himself and replaced it with a hammer and a shorter set of tongs. He began pounding on the metal, flattening it out and shaping it into a rapier. It was hard work, and few times he had to stop to catch his breath, but after about ten minutes it had finally been shaped the way he wanted it. Dan picked it up and quickly dunked it into a nearby bucket of cold water causing steam to rise into the air. The metal was cooled instantly, another aspect of the game, Dan pulled the blade out of the bucket and placed it back on his work bench. Now out of breath and sweating profusely, muscles aching, he opened his inventory once more and pulled out the chestnut hilt. This was actually the easiest part of the whole process. Since it was the hilt and not the actual wood itself everything was already prepared, now all he had to do was put the two together. The man carefully pick it up by the edge and slid it into the hole in the hilt. There was a brief flash of light causing Dan to shield his eyes. Looking back he saw that it was a perfect recreation of a copper sword. However he wasn't done yet. He took a pencil and began drawing out 끝까지 along the blade. Once it was all drawn out Dan a took an engraving tool and began tracing the characters slowly, going over each line several times. It needed to be perfect, it wasn't meant to be his, it was supposed to be a gift for someone else. So after 5 careful minutes of engraving it was finally finished. Taking it in his hand he gave it a few test swings. Satisfied with the weight and the balance of the weapon he took it over to the grindstone. He pushed his foot to the pedal and started the machine spinning. The young smith pressed the blade to the stone and winced a bit as the sparks flew out. He slowly slid the blade left and right across the stone wincing as every now and then a spark hit his bare skin. After the one side was sufficiently sharp he flipped it over and sharpened that side in a similar fashion. He sighed as he pulled the blade away smiling at his work. For a first attempt at blacksmithing this seemed pretty good. Happy with the results he dropped the firey orange sword into his inventory, grabbed his shirt and headed back out into the town, the air significantly cooler than in the forge causing him to shiver. |
