"It’s never been about bettering others, only bettering myself!"
Annalise Lv1 | The cobble streets of Port Noir stretched before the crimsonnette, her hand holding on to a spoon and as she shoveled a hearty stew of a rather steak-like fish into her face. It seemed rather idiotic that she felt hunger in a virtual realm, but the gnawing pangs were something she couldn't escape at this point. She'd taken up work at a fishery, running their catches from vendor to vendor in exchange for room, board, and the evenings to herself. It was a simple arrangement, but something about loosing herself in simple work made her happy. Of course, her patrons would begone to Var over the next few days, purchasing a few materials they couldn't procure on this side of the lake for remotely the same price. And with that information in her head and a full bowl of stew, Annalise was in need of something to do beyond errands and practicing her swordplay. Her thought process was cut short by the intrusion of another PC, Geraldo. "Morning shortstack!" She gave the young boy a salute as he skidded to a halt outside the small home she'd been thrust into. Geraldo came around here almost every day, although usually it was to learn more about fishing. But yesterday was strange. Yesterday he had approached her with a request after he noticed her leave with her rapier equipped by mistake. "You here to practice this morning, or visit the bigguns? If it's the second one, they're off to Var for some hooks." The brunette boy with hazel eyes opened his menu, dropping two large sticks out of his inventory with a grin. "I came to practice!" Annalise grinned, her heart warmed be the thought that she had something like a friend. "Well the, Ger..." Her eyes flash a brilliant gold, snatching up the stick with a deft motion. "En Garde!" The boy had taken a shield mastery at level one, joining the game to role play, rather than farm and fight. But Kayaba's cruel twist of fate had left the boy defenseless outside of town, devoid of resources in a world where even an enemy as basic as a boar could spell trouble if you couldn't fight. "Relax your off hand a bit." Her own left arm hung a little loose at her side. "Tensing it is constantly is going to slow you down a little. All you want to do today is hit the stick as I approach, alright? What's the rule? If they never hit me...?" She looks at the boy, leaving the question open for the response. "Then I don't get hurt," he fires back, his gaze hardening. She nods. "Once we find someone who tanks, we can start practicing your shield work, alright?" He nods resolute, and the two lose themselves in the monotony of practice, his movements clunky, but guided by the experienced hand of the fencer. Their task left them completely unaware of the woman across the street, her flamboyantly red hair and crimson eyes gazing on as their stick on stick duel progressed in slow motion, pausing often for Anna to deliver efficient instruction on pushing a blow away more effectively. |
